An introduction to 2D and 3D design concepts and terminology. Practical experience in the design and evaluation of 2D/3D still and motion graphics. Students gain practical experience by storyboarding, designing, animating, and rendering 2D/3D graphic objects, and Animations. Training in industry standard 3D graphics programs guided by principles of design. (Formerly "2D/3D Graphics and Animation")

Computer graphics, 2D and 3D graphics and animation in particular, expand our ability to communicate, giving the student the tools necessary to design more effective graphics that integrate easily with other imaging software. This is a fast growing area of graphic design and visual communication in general. It can be found in formats such as television, animation, graphics, special effects, and simulations.

The student will complete each tutorial by following the step-by-step instructions given throughout the tutorial book. Completing 1 tutorial out of the multiple listed in each chapter of the tutorial book is required; however, the student will consider completing all of the tutorials per chapter for extra practice.

Using the skills gained in the tutorials, the student will apply what he/she learned by creating a model or scene. Once the model or scene is complete, the student will export the image as a .JPG and upload the digital file via the appropriate assignment submission link.

For this part of the Animation Creation assignment, the student will create a proposal for his/her animated movie of 1 minute or shorter. The student will storyboard what he/she plans to animate, and describe the background, texture, and lighting that will convey the look and feel of the animation. The proposal must be at least 300 words, and contain no fewer than 10 storyboard panels.

I am working on a course in Moodle 2.6 that will have three videos. I just received the first video (mp4 format) from the client. It's 473MB, and the remaining two videos will be approximately the same size. The settings for the course have been changed to allow for uploads of up to 1000MB, so I know I will be able to upload a file that size. However, I'm wondering if it's better to use FTP to link to the file in a server, or just upload the file directly to the course. I have never had to upload and embed video files this large in a course before, and I want to make sure I use the option that will ensure that the videos play properly regardless of the number of students working in the course at the same time.

I created a folder server side in the 'Moodledata/repository' folder using Filezilla. Then I used Filezilla and uploaded files including videos. I've found it easier to work that way since I'm able to get folder level access and manage that more easily using Filezilla, than I found when I started using Moodle upload.

I'm not sure how long it'll take to upload the videos, but i uploaded about a Gigabyte of vids a while back and started it at the end of the day when I was off to the gym and just left it running. It was sorted by early evening when I checked (four or so hours later - but I don't know if it took that long)

I then changed the settings for the 'Shared' to the name of my created folder and that seems to be working. Sub-folder show up in Moodle which means I can organise by content, file type and/or purpose.

Disableing the download option protects the video from many of the video download sites, but there are still some that can download it. You should then enable the "Only on sites I choose" embedding option, too; this will decrease the possiblity of your video being downloaded.

After a few teething problems with Android I have it all up and running beautifully and am really chuffed with the result (so thanks to Willow for asking the original question which prompted my response and a question to Guillermo which I have been trying to find an answer to for weeks).
